Congratulations to these two adorable lovers! I’m always left with feelings of excitement and anticipation after my engagement sessions! My couples just have this way about them! I can see their life journey ahead of them and I’m thrilled to be a part of this special season along the way. Here is a peek from my session with Elly & Brett. I bet you’ll fall in love with them like I have! 😉
From my beautiful bride Elly:
Brett and I are both from Kingwood, TX. I started taking dance at his mom’s studio when I was just 3 years old. Our families have always known each other and when I was little, his mother once said “if I could pick one person to date my son I would pick Elly Gibson!” It is so crazy how God has a plan that He knows years before it will happen! Growing up, I remembered Brett being the shy and quiet one of their family, but it wasn’t until the Summer of 2015 that he proved all of my preconceived ideas of him completely wrong.
I was out with a girlfriend and in walks Brett with his group of friends. We went over to say hi to some of our old high school acquaintances. Brett and I caught up with each other, mainly talking about our families and how college has been. I just remember him being so friendly and attentive. I had this gut feeling that he was going to reach out after we left, and he did! We set up a date for a few days later and from that first date I knew this guy was something out of the ordinary.
He was so genuine, honest, compassionate and way more talkative than I thought he would be. He was not the guy I knew from my childhood! From that date on, we spent the rest of the summer doing EVERYTHING together until it was time to go back to college. I was at Texas A&M and he was at the University of Nebraska. Thankfully, we only spent 1 year of long distance before moving back to Houston to start our careers.
Fast forward 3 years that were full of laughter, adventures, city living, surprises, new jobs, new roommates, lake trips, Mexican food dates, meal prepping, multiple family vacations, ups and downs. Dating Brett has been a true love story and I feel like we have grown so much together. I have never met someone who is as hardworking and disciplined as he is. He truly makes me a better person and challenges me on a daily basis. At times we can be complete opposites, but that why I think we work so well.
On September 1, 2018, Brett Willms got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him. He proposed on the dock at Lake Livingston surrounded by rose petals and candles. Our family and friends were close by and we spent the rest of the weekend celebrating, it was a dream come true! Saying yes was so easy because I know he is the one that God has prepared me for. Every decision has lead me to him and I cannot wait to start our forever. I am so excited!!!
